After nearly 16 years, Bishop David Murray has announced he will be stepping down as Director of the Cathedral’s Centre for Spirituality at the end of the year. The Centre was Bishop David’s inspiration and he successfully created a space for people from both within and beyond the church, to explore the notion of spirituality in every aspect of life. For many of those years, Bishop David was assisted by Fr David Noble, who helped with the hospitality and worship the Centre provided, inspiring people to ‘waste time with God’ and spend time on growing our inner life with God. It is an amazing contribution to the life of the Cathedral, and we thank them both sincerely for their devoted service to the Centre, and for encouraging so many in spiritual reflection and wholeness.

The Centre will continue with an interim Director, the Reverend Ian Crooks and next year’s programme is being planned. Bishop David is not leaving the Cathedral, only retiring as Director, and he will remain a part of the worshipping life of the Cathedral community. The Centre will acknowledge the work of Bishop David and Fr David Noble at a farewell lunch to be held for him on Wednesday 14 December at 12.30pm.
