Review of Mozart Great Mass and Requiem by Will Yeoman - Thursday 18 November 2010

St George's Cathedral

When your spine tingles from the first bar, you continuously have to fight back tears and, at the end of it all, the conductor turns to take his bow looking like he's just gone a round with Danny Green, you know you've just experienced an extraordinary musical event.

Below is the review written by Will Yeoman and published in The West Australian on Tuesday 19 October 2010 of the Cathedral's Organist and Master of Choristers, Joseph Nolan.

A massive 32' organ stop is to be installed shortly, enhancing the sound of the Cathedral's West Organ. It will be dedicated to 12 former Cathedral Choristers killed in action during the First World War.

St George’s Art 2010 was launched last night by Art Gallery of WA Director, Stefano Carboni, who also awarded prizes to nine selected artworks.

A review published today of Fauré's Requiem and Rutter's Gloria - the Cathedral's concert by candlelight on 14 July - has declared the performance 'close to perfection'.
