Susanna Wesley taught her sons (John and Charles) Latin and Greek, preached to conregrations of hundreds when her husband was away, and Biblically and carefully defended her right to do so.

John and Charles would re-shape the Christian world.

The next generation of Wesleys drove the revival of English choral music.

The Reverend Richard Roy, an expert in the history and influence of the Wesley family, preaches. St George’s Cathedral Consort sings music by Samuel Sebastian Wesley. And the great hymns of Charles Wesley are sung by all.

A reception follows.

The flicker of candles and the sounds of sacred music beckon you into St George’s Cathedral, from the cold air of a winter’s night.

Sunday 24 June sees Perth’s second Winterfest beginning with a candlelight service sung by the renowned St George’s Cathedral Consort, then spilling unto the Cathedral terrace for a feast of sizzling bratwurst, steaming paella, traditional Romanian winter food, spicy empanadas, and aromatic tagine.  Wash it down with hot mulled wine before moving on to roast chestnuts, German gingerbread, brioche, and biscuits, while experiencing fire-performance and live music on the terrace.
