The Blessing of the Animals

The first animal gathering for Francistide at St George’s Cathedral saw cats, dogs, and a carpet python gathering for a simple blessing service on Saturday afternoon, 1 October.

Sidney Harvey (cello) and Joseph Nolan (piano) played excepts from Saint-Saëns' The Carnival of the Animals, and the creatures were sprinkled with holy water and then blessed each by name.
