Flowers and Photography

Flowers

Flowers for weddings in the Cathedral are prepared by the Cathedral flower arrangers, and are usually in white or neutral tones.  Two large arrangements are placed at the East End of the Cathedral near the main altar.  Extra items can be provided on request.  Please ask about:

* pedestals at the West End

* chair end bows: if you are considering bows please be aware that only bows provided by Cathedral flower arrangers will be permitted and these need to be ordered in advance.

There are no wedding flowers in the Cathedral during the season of Advent (four Sundays before Christmas Day) and Lent (six Sundays before Easter Day).  You are welcome to provide your own floral arrangements in either of these seasons if your wedding day falls in this time, in which case, of course, no charge for flowers will be made.  Flower arrangements brought in for a wedding in Advent or Lent must be removed immediately after the wedding service.

In Advent, the Cathedral may use flowers in the Advent candle stand and in Lent, the Cathedral occasionally uses flowers for Saints' days.  Please ask for further details as these flowers would also be available for your wedding.

Flowers provided by the Cathedral flower arrangers are charged at cost and will be left in place after the wedding to decorate the Cathedral.

Professional Photography

Video and still photography during the ceremony is permitted in the Cathedral. Please note, however, that the use of flash photography is not permitted at any time inside the Cathedral.

Guests are asked not to take photographs during the service.

Professional photographers and videographers are expected to record the wedding ceremony without disruption to the service, and must note that the use of fixed lighting and flash is prohibited.

Except during the signing of the registers, and at the discretion of the officiating priest, no posed photographs will be allowed during the ceremony.

Photographers and videographers may not move in the space between the altar and the congregation, and may not enter the organ gallery. If these regulations are disregarded, the wedding service will be stopped while the photographer is asked to move back into a designated area.
