Spirituality and the Social Conscience - The Honourable Fred Chaney AO, Former Federal Senator
"Recently I met a politician I knew as a public figure but not as a person. I told him I disagreed with something he had said. He demurred and I said I thought he identified as a Christian and I thought his stance unChristian. His response was along the lines that he did not bring religion into politics. I find Christian spirituality without a social conscience at odds with the gospels. But then again I find it hard to understand why the warnings about the Pharisees don’t seem to resonate either." - The Honourable Fred Chaney, AO.
